When your company bought you an Equipsme plan, they also opened the door for you to support your family’s health, too. That means you get the extra peace of mind from knowing you’ve ALL got health back-up when you need it.
Here’s three ways Equipsme can support your family’s health:
1. Add your partner
You can choose to add your partner to your Equipsme plan. You’ll pay exactly the same as your own plan costs.
On our GP Plus level that means they get 24/7 GP support, access to our health support line, and physio sessions.
If diagnosis is part of your plan, it means they can use our diagnosis services and our new Pathways, where they can get fast-track private medical support across 9 key specialisms within 3 to 5 days.
And if treatment is part of your plan, it means they can get fast-track support to help them get better, quicker.
Basically you’re getting them top quality private health insurance that would cost significantly more if you were to take out an individual private medical insurance plan. That’s a lot of peace of mind in your back pocket.
*Just remember, your partner may already have private medical insurance – either through their work or a personal policy. Make sure you’re not paying twice, and always compare cover levels and benefits before making any changes or swaps.
The Equipsme plan cannot cover everything and exclusions do apply to things like pre-existing conditions and chronic/long term conditions, so make sure you read your membership certificate and handbook for full details.
2. Add your children
You can also choose to add children on to your Equipsme plan. You’ll pay half of what your own plan costs – whatever level you’re on.
What’s more, you only pay one additional monthly cost for all your children covered. So it’s not half the cost for every child, but half the cost for up to 5 children under the age of 25. Equipsme can support you and your growing family during the different stages of life.
Pregnancy and infants
While we don’t offer fertility or pregnancy cover, you do have access to a team of midwives that are part of the Health Support Line, to answer questions and queries, offering pregnancy information and advice.
Small children
There’s also nurses on the phone – so if you’ve got a small child with a temperature at 3am, they’re there to support you, and help you decide between calpol and A&E.
Our GP service is also 24/7, and a great way to get a second opinion if you’re struggling to get into or get sense out of your NHS doctor (subject to availability of appointments at peak times).
Older children
As your kids get older (16+) they can access our mental health support services (if your company has added the Stress Support/EAP to your plan) - and over 16s can also access all the same great gym discounts available to you.
And if away at University or elsewhere they can still use the private GP, nurse helpline and health checks up until the age of 25 – so you can have a bit of extra peace of mind even when they’re not living at home.
*Just remember, your children might already have private medical insurance – for instance through an ex-partner. Make sure you’re not paying twice, and always compare cover levels and benefits before making any changes or swaps.
3. Use our Elder care discounts
While you can’t add elderly relatives to your plan, you can access our great discounts on elder care support – including a range of monitored devices connected to 24/7 teams who can resolve emergency alarm calls in the event of things like falls, medical emergencies, intruders, fires or other distress.
It’s another way to get peace of mind about your family’s health as well as your own, and it’s perfect for the sandwich generation juggling jobs, childcare, and elderly relatives at the same time.
